SPARTA, Ky. (September 23, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed returns to Kentucky Speedway this weekend for back-to-back nights of racing. On Friday night, Reed will drive the No. 38 Lilly Diabetes Lira Motorsports Ford Fusion in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards. On Saturday, he will return back to the track to race his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series event.
Friday marks Reed’s second ARCA Racing Series start of the season. In June, Reed won the ARCA Racing Series SCOTT 150 at Chicagoland Speedway behind the wheel of the No. 58 machine for Lira Motorsports.
He will also compete in the ARCA Racing Series event at Kansas Speedway in October for Lira Motorsports.
“I’m thrilled to be back behind the wheel of the No. 38 machine for Lira Motorsports for two more races,” said Reed. “I know Carlos (Lira) and (crew chief) Teddy Brown will give me an awesome car to drive and hopefully we can bring home another victory for the team.”
Reed is slated to complete 300 miles at the 1.5-mile oval between the two races at Kentucky Speedway. Members of his Roush Fenway Racing pit crew will also pull double-duty, performing over-the-wall duties for both races.
Reed has three previous starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series at Kentucky Speedway with his highest finish of 11th coming in September 2014.
“Kentucky can be really tough to maneuver with the track’s bumps and your on-throttle time,” said Reed. “We found some good things during the race in July that we can hit on for this upcoming race and I know (crew chief) Chad (Norris) has been working on a lot of things to try out as well. I had an ARCA test there yesterday so I had some extra track time and am really excited to get back on track in our XFINITY Series car on Friday.”
Reed will start the weekend off with an ARCA Racing Series practice on Friday afternoon followed by NASCAR XFINITY Series practice. The ARCA Racing Series will qualify at 4:40 p.m. on Friday, followed by NASCAR XFINITY Series final practice.
The ARCA Racing Series Crosley Brands 150 from Kentucky Speedway will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 on Friday, September 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
The following night, Reed will return to the driver’s seat of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang for the NASCAR XFINITY Series VisitMyrtleBeach.com 300 at 8 p.m. ET. The race will air live on NBC Sports Network and PRN.
