Virtue of a late race pass, Derek Jacobson was able to get out front ahead of the field and score the victory in the Ocktoberfest Pure Stock feature at Flamboro Speedway on Friday night.
The night started off with three heats to set the line-up for the main event.
Sam Heibien (#44) won the first heat ahead of Mark Thorne (#6), Elijah Hawrylyshyn (#14) and Wayde Thorne (#95).
Matt Young (#7) won the second heat ahead of Derek Jacobson (#29) and Keara Gallant (#31).
Andy Wheller (#90) won the final heat ahead of Troy Martin, Peter Becker (#59) and the No. 0.
Come feature time, it’d be Heibien starting on pole ahead of Young, Wheller, Thorne, Jacobson, Martin, Hawrylyshyn, Becker and Thorne.
Sam Heibien would grab the lead off the start, but the caution would fly for Michael Kenny (#07), the 4, Roger Lessard (#69) and the 0 tangling in turn three and four.
The second attempt at starting the race would see Andy Wheller take the lead, though the caution would fly a second time for Hawrylyshyn getting off track off turn four, with someone losing their bumper behind them. Then under caution, the 40 would stall on the frontstretch.
The third attempt at starting the race went much smoother with Wheller holding the advantage ahead of Jacobson, Heibien, Young and Thorne. Gallant ran sixth at lap five ahead of Billy Lovell (#38), Lofton Schutts (#10), Mike Larkin (#53) and Wayde Thorne (#95). Behind him at lap six, Andrea Parsons (#84) and Steve Deleeuw (#48) would run side-by-side for the 11th spot. Parsons would get the spot a lap later, with Leo Lebarbera (#42) following her through. The 40 would then move up into 13th on lap eight ahead of Caroline Kelly (#79), Hawrylyshyn and the 0.
Further up the field, Young would get alongside Heibien for the third spot on lap 10, taking the spot a lap later. Thorne would then get alongside Heibien for fourth, while Parsons slowed with a problem at lap 12.
At the front of the field, Wheller continued to lead ahead of Jacobson, Young, Thorne and Heibien. Thorne would then get alongside Young for the third spot at lap 16, as the two battled their way through the lap cars. Cutting through lap traffic didn’t pan out that well for Young as he’d tangle with Lessard on the backstretch, bringing out the caution.

On the restart, Jacobson would take the lead and never look back en route to scoring the victory ahead of Wheller, Thorne, Young, Heibien, Gallant, Lovell, the 40, Becker, the 50, Schutts, Lebarbera, Thorne, Kelly, the 32, Deleeuw and the 0.
