In a move to showcase the youngsters from across Ontario, Peterborough Speedway officials put together the “Younggun Showcase”, which is meant to showcase drivers under the age of 21. One of the division stand-outs and 2014 Sunset Speedway Champion Brandon McFerran would lead all the laps en route to scoring the victory.
Brandon McFerran would start on pole ahead of Nick Clarke, Travis McLean, Chad Corcoran, Stefan Semeraro, Gil Brooks, Brandt Graham driving Tim Tolton’s car, Cayden Lapcevich driving Bobby Tolton’s car, Chris Allard, Hudson Nagy, Samantha Shaw driving Danny Benedict’s mustang, Treyten Lapcevich, Josh Inglis, Lane Zardo driving Chris Mulder’s car, Scott Brooks and Chandler Bos.
The race would run cleanly with McFerran picking up the win ahead of Lapcevich and Corcoran. The battle for second was the one to watch on the night as the pair went back and forth through the final five laps. Nick Clarke finished fourth ahead of Graham, Lapcevich, Allard, Nagy, Shaw, Brooks, Semeraro, Zardo and Bos. Travis McLean parked the car on lap 16 due to a mechanical issue while Scott Brooks parked his entry on lap 17 for the same reason.
