Looking back at the St. Onge Recreational Super Stock’s season at Sunset Speedway, here are some notable numbers to think about….
1 – Mike Weeda scored his first career feature victory on August 8 with a dominating performance.
1 flipped car this season as Jade Franklin would end up on his roof after some contact during one of the heats.
2 – Cayden Lapcevich is now a two-time Sunset Speedway Champion with back-to-back St. Onge Recreational Super Stock Championships.
2 – After a hiatus from behind the wheel, Brendan Adams returned to victory lane behind the wheel of the No. 2 on July 4.
2 – Only two drivers were able to score 10 or more top-fives this season – Ryan Semple (10) and Cayden Lapcevich (12).
2 – Ryan Semple, Brendan Adams and Jade Franklin were each able to score a pair of b-feature victories.
3 – The amount of points event feature wins by Matt Bentley over the course of the season.
3 – Cayden Lapcevich’s worst finish en route to the championship – third.
3 drivers scored five or more heat victories this year. Bentley scored seven, with Zardo and Rusnell scoring five apiece.
4 – Cayden Lapcevich led all drivers with trips to feature victory lane with four points wins in 2015.
5 drivers scored more than five top-five feature finishes this year – Lapcevich, Lane Zardo, Semple, Stan Coe, Bentley.
5 – Matt Bentley led the way with Fast Qualifer Dash wins, scoring five victories over the course of the season.
5 drivers won atleast one Fast Qualifer’s Dash this season – Lapcevich, Zardo, Coe, Bentley and Kent Constable.
5 drivers scored five or more top-fives in the Fast Qualifier’s Dash this season.
7 – Matt Bentley led the way with heat victories, scoring seven victories over the course of the season.
8 different drivers visited feature victory lane this year at Sunset Speedway – Lapcevich, Lane Zardo, Mike Weeda, Ryan Semple, Stan Coe, Matt Bentley, Brendan Adams and Brandon McFerran
8 drivers were able to score 10 or more feature top-10s over the course of the season – Lapcevich, Zardo, Rusnell, Weeda, Semple, Coe, Bentley and Adam Martin
9 drivers were able to score 10 or more heat top-fives over the course of the season.
9 – Matt Bentley led the way with Fast Qualifier Dash top-fives, scoring nine over the course of the season.
9 – Nick Tooley started off the year promising with a ninth place finish in the opening feature of the season. Unfortunately a mechanical issues and a couple wrecks would result in the sophomore finishing 14th in points. Still, he continued to show promise with a couple top-five heat finishes in the second half of the season.
10 drivers ran more than five Fast Qualifier’s Dashes this season.
11 – Mike Weeda made the most Fast Qualifier’s Dash appearances this season, running in 11 of them.
12 – Cayden Lapcevich scored the most top-fives and most top-10s of all drivers with 12.
12 – Cayden wasn’t the only driver who score 12 top-10s, though. Randy Rusnell, Stan Coe and Matt Bentley were also able to match that feat.
13 – On June 13, McFerran filled in behind the wheel of the No. 76 for Lapcevich while Lapcevich was away. The 2014 Mini Stock Champion put together an impressive performance winning the feature that night. He also won the feature that night in the Mini Stock division as well.
14 drivers scored at least one top-five feature finish this season.
14 – Adam Martin led the way with the most heat top-fives of all drivers this season with 14. With only 14 nights on the calendar, that means that the sophomore driver finished in the top-five every night in 2015.
16 drivers scored at least one heat victory this season.
26 drivers scored at least one top-10 feature finish this season.
31 – Driving the No. 31 entry, Jade Franklin was the highest rookie in the season ending standings. Franklin ahd a successful season with a heat and two b-main victories.
32 drivers scored at least one heat top-five finish this season
46 – Lane Zardo drove his No. 46 Monte Carlo to a pair of feature victories in 2015. Zardo will make the move up to the Sauble Falls Tent and Trailer Park Late Model division in 2016.
48 – With a b-main victory to his credit, Coltin Everingham had a solid season behind the wheel of his No. 48 entry en route to finishing 10th in points.
55 – While he didn’t score any heat or feature victories this season, Chris Howse picked up a b-main victory behind the wheel of his No. 55 entry en route to finishing eighth in points.
58 – In one of the fan-favourite wins of the year, series veteran Stan Coe made his return back to feature victory lane behind the wheel of the No. 58.
60 – The number of points that Cayden Lapcevich won the championship by ahead of Stan Coe
64 – After going quite a few years without a victory, Ryan Semple drove his No. 64 Camaro to victory lane in an emotional victory.
488 – With 488 NWAAS points, Cayden Lapcevich won the 2015 UNOH Youth Achievement Award that is given out by the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and UNOH.
