After finishing fifth in points following a late season streak of top-six finishes, Timothy Peters will have someone else calling the shots for him at Red Horse Racing. Shane Huffman tweeted at the beginning of the month that he would be working with Peters next season.
Been an exciting week so far, started @RedHorseRacing to be the Crew Chief for @TimothyPeters17 ready for season to start #pumped #blessed

Huffman spent the 2015 season at GMS Racing, scoring eight top-fives and 11 top-10s, highlighted by the organization’s first victory with Austin Dillon behind the wheel.
When it came to deciding on a crew chief for next season, Peters commented at teh banquet that it came about through a committee like discussion at RHR.
“We all have people that we want, and people that we think our available and can get the job done,” he said. “It’s a situation where everyone has input on it. At the end of the day, Tom has the say so he knows it’s someone that can get the job done for us, and Red Horse. That’s why I believe that the person we announce will get the job done, and we’ll get the job done.”
The decision comes about after Marcus Richmond left Red Horse Racing to go to GMS Racing and work with Johnny Sauter for 2015.

“Definitely hate the circumstances for sure, but it was a mutual decision to part ways with Red Horse and Marcus,” Peters said. “We’re definitely best friends, and I wish him well.”
Peters is hoping to have a strong season in 2016 after finishing fifth in points. After struggling through the spring and summer, Peters finished the year off with eight straight top-six finishes. Peters said the turn around came about through determination to get the program turned around by himself, Richmond and team owner Tom DeLoach.
“When it came together, the momentum got on our side and the confidence was up, not only with myself but with the team,” he commented. “When you have that, you have everybody jelling – not that we weren’t but it put the extra spark there. That’s the recipe for success.”
Next season, Peters feels will be stronger as he feels the team will be more motivated than they have in the past, while getting more pieces of the puzzle together for success.
“I’m more than ready to sit at that head table than ever,” he said. “Sitting where I was sitting tonight and seeing Erik (Jones) up there – congratulations to him, but that’s more motivation to be there. I think you’ll see us come out stronger than ever.”
