KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Jan. 12, 2016) – Kansas Speedway Senior Manager of Event Operations Greg Scott was recognized by NASCAR this week with the Security Achievement Award for providing a safe environment for fans, competitors and colleagues while maintaining NASCAR security standards during the 2015 NASCAR season.
“Providing security for a facility the size of Kansas Speedway is not easy and I’m extremely proud of the efforts of Greg and his team,” said Kansas Speedway President Patrick Warren. “Unlike most sporting events, we become a 24×7 operation during our race weekends, which presents a number of unique challenges for our entire security team. Greg has done a great job working with the police and others in law enforcement to ensure that we have both a safe and fun environment for our fans.”
This past year, Kansas Speedway moved every driver’s meeting to Sprint FanWalk for the first time allowing fans to see a drivers meeting, while also allowing fans closer access to drivers and Scott’s security team was responsible for providing a safe location for the meeting. In addition this past October, drivers proceeded from the driver’s meeting directly to the pre-race stage for driver introductions for the first time and Scott’s team delivered a secure walkway for drivers while still allowing fans to see their favorite drivers.
On May 6-7, Kansas Speedway will host the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series night race on May 7, and the Toyota Tundra 250 on May 6. In October, the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returns with the Hollywood Casino 400 on Oct. 16. The Kansas Lottery 300 NASCAR XFINITY Series race will take center stage on Oct. 15, while the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship race will run on Oct. 14.
Parking is always free at Kansas Speedway and fans can bring in one 14x14x14-inch soft-sided cooler with their favorite food and beverages.
