CONOVER, NC- With funding in place, Morgan Shepherd is set to return ot the high banks of Daytona for the PowerShares QQQ 300, the first race of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. The event will mark Shepherd’s 97th race at the famed superspeedway.
“Our Camaro is coming together nicely,” says Shepherd. “It’s from the Childress shop, so we know it’s a fast car. And now that Tony Furr has come on board as crew chief, I think we’re starting out pretty well.”
Furr, who has served a crew chief for Henrick Motorsports, Petty Enterprises, Felix Sabates Racing and Cale Yarborough Racing among others, knows his way around a superspeedway car. “Morgan’s got a good ride for Daytona, there’s no doubt about that,” states Furr. “We just have to get it prepared properly so when we unload, we are competitive from the get-go.”
The team still has some sponsorship spots available for the Daytona race. According to CM2’s Nick Amadio, “While we’re glad that the funding is there to get to Daytona, we still have room for a few more marketing partners for the No. 89 Camaro.”
Adds Shepherd, “I feel like our team can offer sponsors a tremendous value. CM2 really understands how to create effective marketing campaigns and promotions to help a sponsor maximize the return on their investment.”
The PowerShares QQQ 300 kicks off the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season on Saturday, February 20 at Daytona International Speedway. The race will be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1.
