On Thursday, February 4, Full Throttle Motor Speedway officials announced that they would be hosting the second annual Sprint Into Spring event on April 9, 2016.
Named the Sprint into Spring 400, the event is set to feature three different racing divisions. The Fun Stocks which will run triple 30’s, well the Minii Stocks will compete in triple 40’s and the Figure 8’s will run twin 25’s.
Last year, the speedway hosted the first annual event, with 200 laps being counted total. The event was a “run what you brung” style event with the winner walking away with a turn-key sprint car. The first and second segment each featured 90 laps, with the last segment being 20 laps and featuring the top 20 qualifiers from combination driver finish of both 90 lap races. FTMS officials stated that they have changed the format for this year’s event as a result of “the new 2016 insurance regulations” that the track is required to follow.
In the inaugural event, Bobby Tolton would come back to score the victory despite being stuck in a snowbank during the first 90 lap segment.

Following the completion of the first annual event, there were smiles all around from track staff to participants, with fans hoping for another one to come.
“I think it was an amazing day,” FTMS track owner Gord Bennett said after last year’s event. “Kind of an off-the-wall type of idea that I had, and we’re the first track in Ontario that is bringing everyone racing. From here on forward, its spring and summer time racing.”
The track plans to have race payout and $100 registration on their track website soon, with the rules already being available for viewing at www.fullthrottlemotorspeedway.com.
Additionally, FTMS has set the admission price for the event. General admission will be $5 plus a Local Foodbank donation, while pit admission will be $10 plus a food donation.
