NCWTS: Spencer Gallagher Leads Final NextEra Energy Resources 250 Practice

In the final practice ahead of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series opener, it’d be Spencer Gallagher topping the charts with a speed of 188.135 mph as he enters his second season with GMS Racing.

Timothy Peters, whom led the first practice, was second quickest, just 0.027 seconds off of Gallagher, followed by Tyler Reddick.

“My tundra is really fast,” Peters stated. “The guys in the shop built a great Tundra. I can’t describe how we’ve come together as a new team through the off-season and loaded off today as if we’d be together for years.

ThorSport Racing teammates Rico Abreu and Matt Crafton would round out the top-five as Abreu enters his rookie season in the series. Abreu noted that one of the big things he learned is “just the mile and a hour that you pick up with the direction of the wind right now, especially down the frontstrech”, along with the art of side drafting and “how much a guy leaning on you can slow you down”.

Chris Fontaine was sixth, followed by Ben Rhodes, Christophe Bell, Ben Kennedy and Grant Enfinger.

“Trying to find some speed for qualifying and kind of disappointed with the speed that we had,” Bell said. “Really happy with our Tundra in the draft so we have a good shot for tomorrow. Probably won’t qualify as well as we had hoped to, so we’ll see how it ends up and go from there.”
