Concord, N.C. (Feb. 18, 2016) – John Wes Townley and Athenian Motorsports, winners of Saturday’s ARCA Lucas Oil 200 at Daytona International Speedway, hope to flash another winning hand when they welcome the Florida Lottery to the No. 05 Chevrolet in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series PowerShares QQQ 300 at the World Center of Racing.
The 26-year-old Townley, a regular in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, is confident he will give the Florida Lottery a solid run during this weekend’s season opener for NASCAR’s junior circuit.
“I love racing at Daytona and have acquired a lot of drafting experience on the big tracks all the way back to my NASCAR debut at Talladega in 2008 in the Truck Series,” said Townley, now a two-time ARCA race winner at Daytona. “We’re running a limited Xfinity Series schedule this year, which means we’ve poured a lot of manpower and focus into this Daytona car. I think we’re going to surprise a lot of folks on Saturday, and I’m glad we’ll have the Florida Lottery onboard for the ride.”
The Florida Lottery has supported education for 28 years through its drawings and Scratch-Off games. The organization has contributed more than $29 billion to education and sent more than 725,000 students to college through the Bright Futures Scholarship Programs. The partnership with Athenian Motorsports will encourage race fans to join in the fun and “Just Imagine” becoming one of the 1,800-plus players that have become millionaires through the Florida Lottery.
Townley will meet Florida Lottery fans in the Daytona Fan Zone on Saturday prior to the PowerShares QQQ 300.
