He was fast in the first practice, and he was fast in the final practice.
After leading the first practice session, Grant Enfinger would post the quickest time in the final practice with a lap of 31.011 seconds.
“Everybody at GMS gave us a really fast Chevy, so really confident about the speed on short runs,” he said. “I have a small issue in turn two that I’m trying to work through but if we’re able to do that, then I think we can contend tomorrow night.”
Enfinger started on the pole at Daytona last weekend and led a bunch of the opening laps before finishing 20th after getting caught up in the big wreck. Notably, Enfinger was one of the drivers that participated in a “rookie” test at Atlanta Motor Speedway last month, which he says is huge simply for the additional seat time.
Defending race winner Matt Crafton was second quickest, driving the truck that he dominated with at Homestead-Miami Speedway last fall.
Christopher Bell was third quickest in his truck for Kyle Busch Motorsports. Bell is hoping to have a good run after tumbling over and over at Daytona International Speedway. As the field went into turn one, Brandon Brown made contact with Christopher Bell, causing him to bounce off of Timothy Peters, before getting into the wall and flipping over.
Spencer Gallagher and Cole Custer would round out the top-five, followed by Ben Kennedy, Ben Rhodes, William Byron, Cameron Hayley and Ryan Truex.
The session had a five minute delay as a result of Garrett Smithley stopping on the backstretch with a flat tire.
The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will qualify for their race on Saturday morning at 10am EST.
