Following a season that saw him finish third in the final Mini Stock standings at Peterborough Speedway, Donovan Price has confirmed that he will be back once again in 2016, focused on racing for the championship.
Price knows, though, that it’s going to be a tough feat to accomplishment in looking at those that he will be competing against.
“It’s gonna be a tough season to make a run for the top spot with lost of fast cars – Kevin Strut, Brandon Hannah and last year’s point champion Tyler Junkin,” he said. “I will need to run clean and finish top five every night to have a shot at it.”
For that reason, he expects to come out with the No. 96 Laurie’s Delights, CK power Sports – Peterborough, Speed Pro Imaging – Oshawa, International Feight Systems (IFS), Oshawa The Newman Group – Weiss Realty and Fat Mike Turn 4 Mini Stock to come out running all four cylinders.
“My buddy Joe (Craven) and I have been working hard this off season to better the car,” he commented. “I hope to also have some good runs at other tracks I learnt a lot about this car last year and what it takes to run up front most nights.”
The confidence for success for Price comes based on last season after posting six heat wins and a feature victory for what he calls his best season in a long time.
“I spent pretty much the whole season top five in points but couldn’t get that top spot and every time I had a off night I would come back stronger the next night,” he said reflecting back. “I also learnt patience is very important especially at Pete. I finished third in points, which was good, but I feel I could have done better.
“A lot of support came from Joe Craven, my brother, girlfriend Tammy and Ryan Babin. I don’t think I could have done it without the help of those people.”
Outside of his championship run at Peterborough Speedway, Price states that he may run “a few invitationals and the (Autumn Colours) Classic for sure, and maybe go to the states with Dan (Price) to help out with his mod.”
