NSCS: Matt Kenseth Leads Final Kobalt 400 Practice at Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Joe Gibbs Racing was the top-three in XFINITY qualifying, and seems to have speed on the Cup Series side as they swept the top-two spots.

Matt Kenseth led the session with the quickest lap at 28.502 seconds. Kenseth is looking to turn things around after finishing deep in the field last week due to a pit road penalty. He also boosts the best average finish of active drivers with a finish of 11.4.

Carl Edwards was second quickest after leading the morning practice session. Edwards looks to carry the momentum forward after scoring a fifth place finish last weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Edwards is behind the wheel of a back-up car after wrecking during qualifying yesterday.

Las Vegas native Kurt Busch was third fastest after finishing fourth at Atlanta, followed by Richard Childress Racing teammate Paul Menard and Ryan Newman.

Last week’s race winner Jimmie Johnson was sixth, followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr., Casey Mears, Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex Jr.
