ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Phoenix
Reed has competed at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR) five times in the NASCAR XFIINTY Series. In this race last year, Reed finished 13th after starting 17th. In 2014, he earned 22nd- and 19th-place finishes in the spring and fall races, respectively. One of Reed’s first NASCAR XFINITY Series starts came at PIR in 2013, where he finished 15th.
In his last appearance at the track in November 2015, Reed finished 23rd after suffering a blown tire on Lap 100, causing significant damage to the right-side of the car.
Reed in 2016
In the first three races of the 2016 NASCAR XFINITY Series season, Reed has recorded finishes of 16th – Daytona, 15th- Atlanta, and 13th- Vegas. His average start is 15.3 and average finish is 14.7. Reed is currently eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series championship standings.
Vegas Recap
The No. 16 team finished 13th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Saturday after having to make an unscheduled pit stop to remove debris from the grille of the car. While on pit road, the caution was displayed, causing the team to lose a lap. Timely cautions allowed Reed to get that lap back and fight back for a top-15 finish.
Reed on Phoenix
“Phoenix is one of my favorite tracks because it’s considered a short track even though it’s a mile in length. There’s a ton of three-wide action going into Turn 3, a ton of braking and lots of room to race. I grew up racing on the West Coast so this whole West Coast swing is really fun for me and I’m excited to see a lot of friends and family this weekend.”
Local Connection
The No. 16 team’s Jackman, Mike Brown, hails from Phoenix, Ariz. Brown has been involved in racing for five years and was a member of Reed’s pit crew during his rookie season in 2014. He got his start at Roush Fenway while attending a pit school, where he was learning to jack racecars.
Meet Ryan
Reed will sign autographs for fans at the Ford Display at PIR on Friday, March 11th from 12:10 p.m. MT until 12:30 p.m. MT.
Fans have another chance to get Reed’s autograph as he joins several other NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers for an autograph session on Saturday, March 12 at 8:15 a.m. MT in the PIR Fan Midway outside of Turn 1. Wristbands will be given out first-come, first-served to fans with a NASCAR XFINITY Series race ticket at the session location beginning at 7:30 a.m. MT.
