As part of the Inside Track Short Track Night of Champions presented by Stoneridge Insurance, the Sauble Speedway Champions were honored for their accomplishments.
Josh Stade was honored as the Late Model Champion.
“This year in 2015 we came together as a team and made it possible,” he commented. “A lot of great people stood behind me through everything and we got our first traveling win at Sunset Speedway on opening night, two feature wins and a championship.”
The championship for Stade featured a close battle with Jason Parker and Scott McTeer.
“My nerves were shot for the last three weeks of the season,” he admitted. “I was points racing up to the second last night and I told the boys, ‘You know what, we just need to go out and get a win, stop points racing and have fun’ and that’s exactly what we did.”
Cory Young was honored as the Mini Stock Champion, stating it was a lot of work. He also added that he will be back at Sauble full-time, though will tour around to other tracks during the season.
Ken Grubb was honored as the Thunder Car Champion. He noted that while they were fast, they’re already hard at working at getting faster for this year as the division continues to expand.
“It keeps expanding with more fast cars,” he commented. “I hear there’s quite a few fast cars at Sunset (Speedway) so we may make it up there on the odd night and give them some competition.”
Eric Thom was honored as the Jr. Late Model Champion, stating that he was pretty happy with the success. He’ll be making the move up to Mini Stock for 2016.
