Former NASCAR short track standout, Tommy Houston, has been named the Grand Marshal for the Southeast Super Truck Series season opener at Tri-County Motor Speedway on March 26. Houston competed in all three of NASCAR’s national touring series, but found most of his success in what is now known as the NASCAR Xfinity Series where he compiled 24 wins and 198 top-tens in 417 starts.
Houston is a native of Hickory, NC, which is just down the road from Tri-County Motor Speedway and home to Hickory Motor Speedway where Houston won back-to-back track championships in 1975 – 76. Houston’s sons, Andy and Marty Houston, also claimed championships at the legendary .363 mile track.
Houston will be available for autographs before the events on Saturday and will also wave the green to signal the start of the Southeast Super Trucks season.
Be sure to make your way to Tri-County Motor Speedway on Saturday March 26 to meet this short track legend and catch the season opener for the 2016 Southeast Super Trucks Season. Grandstands open at 3pm with racing starting at 5pm.
