After an impressive rookie campaign of stock car racing, Treyten Lapcevich is looking for success as he moves up the ladder this year. The youngster will make the next step of his racing career, moving up to the St. Onge Recreational Super Stock division at Sunset Speedway.
“Our plans are to run full-time in the Super Stock division,” he stated at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. “We’re looking for marketing partners to help us out with our campaign.”
Lapcevich is one of many rookies that will partake in the division this upcoming season, joining the likes of Brandon McFerran, Jordan Howse and others. The third generation racer states he’s looking forward to the Rookie of the Year battle.

“We’re going to have a bigger competitive class and we’re going to be learning together and it’s going to be a great run for Rookie of the Year,” he commented.
Going into the year, he states the key is having some fun and getting some experience. He knows the team has a good baseline with the set-up as his brother Cayden Lapcevich won the championship the past two seasons.

Last season, the 11-year-old caught the attention of fans across the province with as he won the Signs of Innovation Mighty Mini Championship in his first year of competition.
“We started the season with a few top-10s and then I won my first heat race, which was a big confidence booster,” he commented. “We sort of just went from there and then I got my first feature win, and that’s where it all started.”
Lapcevich started off the season solidly, posting an eighth place finish on opening night. He then continued to run solidly in the top-10 with four more solid finishes, including a pair of sevenths, to enter July with confidence on his side.
July 18 could be deemed as the turning point of the season, though, as it was that night that the youngster broke out in style. He scored his first career heat victory, and then went out and scored the victory in the feature for his first career win. From there on, the youngster was solid from there on out, scoring top-four in each of the seven following events, highlighted by a pair of victories.
With the solid consistency, Lapcevich entered the season finale leading the standings by a single point over fellow rookie Cameron McGlashan. He would win his qualifying heat and the Fast Qualifier’s Dash, setting him up for a strong run in the feature. Starting in the ninth spot, Lapcevich worked his way to the front of the field quickly, moving into second on lap four. He would then track down Chris Allard for the lead, getting alongside him with nine laps to go. He would take the lead the next lap, putting the No. 32 entry out front. From there on, it was total cruise control for the youngster en route to victory lane.
Lapcevich stated it was fun to get the chance to start in his career in the track’s novice division due to the solid level of competition across the board.
“We were all in equal level skill so we had a lot of different winners throughout the year,” he said. “It was really good competition, and fun to race.”
Beyond this upcoming season, it seems the sky is the limit in where he can go with regards to his talent level. He is going to take his time, though, noting that he wants to get a few years behind the wheel of the Super Stock before moving up.
