The Carolina Vintage Series is one of the most exciting series that travels with the Southeast Super Truck Series. There is three classes for this series, the stock six cylinder, stock eight cylinder, and the modified class. This series is set up for the elder ladies and gentlemen to race classic cars. Some of these drivers have been racing for thirty and forty plus years. One of the most noted drivers is Joe Evans, a Viet Nam war veteran and has been racing for over fifty years from all over the east coast to the west coast.
When the Carolina Vintage Series took to the track at Tri County Motor Speedway alongside the SEST opening points race, there was a great turnout. Herby James led the ten car field stock classes to the green flag as they put on a great show with lots of passing and a little beating and banging. James managed to keep his lead and cross the finish line first in the stock eight class, while Doug Myers claimed the win in the stock six class. Eddie Gilbert led the Modified class to the green flag and led every lap, with the hard charger being Bill Webb who started fifth finished second.
They certainly proved that they haven’t forgot how to drive and know how to put on a great show.
