“After having a look a many different weather models for the April 9th “Sprint into Spring” race being held at Full Throttle Motor Speedway @ Varney we have come to the conclusion that the weather will not be co-operating with us on that day or the days leading up to the event and the race will be moved to the alternate April 16th date. The FREE race car/parts swap meet can still be utilized in the pit area on the 9th for racers in need of obtaining and selling parts and will also be available on the 16th raceday. (Times for the 16th)9am – 2pm will be the swap meet, 10am pits open, 11am-1:30pm for practice, 2pm racing starts.
Last year, the speedway hosted the first annual event, with 200 laps being counted total. The event was a “run what you brung” style event with the winner walking away with a turn-key sprint car. The first and second segment each featured 90 laps, with the last segment being 20 laps and featuring the top 20 qualifiers from combination driver finish of both 90 lap races. FTMS officials stated that they have changed the format for this year’s event as a result of “the new 2016 insurance regulations” that the track is required to follow.
In the inaugural event, Bobby Tolton would come back to score the victory despite being stuck in a snowbank during the first 90 lap segment.

Following the completion of the first annual event, there were smiles all around from track staff to participants, with fans hoping for another one to come.
“I think it was an amazing day,” FTMS track owner Gord Bennett said after last year’s event. “Kind of an off-the-wall type of idea that I had, and we’re the first track in Ontario that is bringing everyone racing. From here on forward, its spring and summer time racing.”
