After the crash Munoz, who was in pain, was lifted of his car and put onto the stretcher. He was then taken to the Infield Care Center where he underwent evaluation for soft tissue injuries to both his legs. A little later, he was released from the hospital and cleared to drive.
“Unfortunately I crashed the car.” Munoz said. “I feel sorry for the guys. They’ll put so much work in tonight to get ready for tomorrow. I just lost the car — went through everything really quick. It’s a shame. I feel a little bit injured on my knees, but I’m OK. I can’t wait to be back on track tomorrow. I’ll just rest a little bit today and think about tomorrow.”
Munoz becomes the third Honda driver to wreck on the day, as his crash mirrored those of both James Hinchcliffe and Takuma Sato earlier in the first practice.
