The Sparks Energy 300 will be a high voltage battle between the best drivers of the NASCAR XFINITY Series against some of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars that could provide an all-but-guaranteed spot in the Series’ season-ending Championship Chase. The Sparks Energy 300 is set to get the green flag at 2 p.m. CDT on Saturday, April 30.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) has been a staple of the 2.66-mile venue since 1992. Some of the sport’s biggest names today like Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano, Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch have gone to Gatorade Victory Lane in the Sparks Energy 300. Elliott Sadler, who is currently second in this year’s NXS point standings, won the 2014 Sparks Energy 300. Other notable NXS drivers who could be a threat to win the Sparks Energy 300 include Series point leader Daniel Suarez, along with Justin Algaier, Ty Dillon, Erik Jones and Mobile, AL native Darrell Wallace, Jr.
Along with the Sparks Energy 300, Talladega Superspeedway is gearing up for a full weekend that kicks off on Friday, April 29 that consists of practice sessions for theGEICO 500 (NASCAR Sprint Cup Series), Sparks Energy 300, as well as practice, qualifying, and the start of the General Tire 200 for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards (5 pm CDT). Saturday’s slate includes qualifying for the GEICO 500 and the Sparks Energy 300, which will get the green flag later in the day at 2 pm CDT. That evening the traditional Infield Concert will be headlined by Big & Rich featuring Cowboy Troy. Admission is free with a GEICO 500 ticket.
