Following a solid season in OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Model competition, Roy Passer is set for another busy season this year.
“Looking forward to it,” he told OnPitRoad.com last month at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. “Everything is going well. Just building the cars right now.”
Passer is set to debut a new piece this season, as he bought the car that Shawn Chenoweth drove to a runner-up finish at the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway.
“I’m hoping for the best,” he commented. “I’m hoping this new car does the job for me. It’s going to be interesting in the series this year so we’ll see how it goes.”
Last year, Passer ended up eighth in the season-ending standings with six top-10s, highlighted by a fourth place finish at Peterborough in August.
“Last season was okay,” he said. “I had a few problems during the season with a couple wrecks but other than that, I finished eighth in the season. My expectations weren’t that as I wasn’t sure if I was going to run the full schedule.”
Along with change in the form of a new car, there’s also series change with a new format for deciding the champion. “The Race for the Cup” will use an elimination format through the second half of the season to determine the champion.
“I sort like it,” Passer commented. I think a change is good and I hope I’m in it.”
