After spending two and a half years in karting, Millman is set for the next step of his racing career, set to run in the OSCAAR Midget division this season.
“I think this season is going to be awesome,” he commented. “The Midget division in 2015 was very exciting.”
Last year saw 30 to 40 cars at the track every weekend, trying to qualify their way into the field. The excitement didn’t stop there as once the green flag dropped, there was close racing throughout the whole field with some battles coming right down to the checkered flag line.
“My family felt that a midget was the next logical step from karting as I didn’t have a lot of racing experience,” Millman said. “The horsepower difference is huge and the knowledge I gain from each event is going to make it exciting.”
Going into the year, Millman says his goal is to constantly improving over the course of the season as he realizes there will be some ups and downs along the way.
“My expectation is to qualify and finish every event running as many laps as possible to gain confidence as the season progresses,” he added.
Thus far, there’s no track that he’s looking forward to more than any other as he looks forward to the different set of challenges that each track proposes.
“With no oval experience there will be a big learning curve,” he noted.
Millman got interested in racing through his sister.
“She was karting and I thought the karts were cool,” he said. “She is really into racing. She gave me a chance to drive her kart. I was hooked. Racing has been a big part of my life. My grandparents love racing. My dad raced at Delaware Speedway in the early 90s. It’s brought me and my dad close and we enjoy my success together.”
Millman will see support from Burloak Tool and Die, Budget Exhaust and Automotive, B&D Steel, Retail Design Group, B and B Decals, and S. Cope Racing Enterprises.
The OSCAAR Midgets will open their season at Flamboro Speedway on May 21-22, joining the OSCAAR Outlaw Super Lates and the OSCAAR Modifieds as part of Flamboro’s big May 24 weekend. The Super Lates will run their feature on the Saturday with the Midgets and Modifieds just qualifying, with both the Midgets and Modifieds running their features on the Sunday.
