Since announcing that the Canadian NASCAR Series would have a new sponsor for the season, it’s been the talk of people within and outside of the industry.
There are drivers praising Pinty’s for stepping up to take over as the series sponsor, and praising their ideas for the marketing campaign. There are fans that are praising the sponsor already for their work with network partner TSN in early commercials that have broadcast during NASCAR Sprint Cup and XFINITY Series races. We’ve already had drivers outside of their normal comfort zone, curling last week for charity.
It’s all part of trying to accomplish a simple goal by Tony Spiteri and his company Pinty’s, in making the drivers of the NASCAR Pinty’s Series household names.
“Our goals are very simple,” Spiteri at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. “These guys will be house hold names in the next four to five years. We’re going to make them that way. I am tired as a fan of racing to mention names like Scott Steckly, Mark Dilley and not be recognized. We got great talent up here, but nobody knows about it.”
Spitieri says his marketing plans for the series including “creating awareness of the sport” to people outside of it, to help bring money into the sport. Currently, there are at least three big name drivers that could be reduced to a limited schedule or nothing at all due to a lack of sponsorship. Spiteri says if he can accomplish his plan, “it’ll be an easier fight moving down the road”.
The marketing plan includes running short one minute features on drivers during NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and XFINITY Series broadcasts on TSN, as seen thsu far by fans with drivers like Jason Hathaway and Gary Klutt being featured.
“The reason why we want to do that is create awareness for people on the American side,” he said. “That’s probably the biggest thing that we’re going to do.”
He added that they’re also looking to spice up the race broadcasts, as well, as he says “there’s a lot of room for potentially some new talent and some different views of the drivers and teams, not just at the track”.
With the days counting down till the season opener at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, there’s only one thing to do – get yourself some Pinty’s chicken wings and get ready for a great season of racing.
