This Labor Day weekend when NASCAR goes to Darlington Raceway for the Bojangles Southern 500, Kevin Harvick, driver of No. 4 Stewart Haas Racing Chevrolet, will have a throwback paint scheme in tribute to NASCAR champ Cale Yarborough’s Busch Beer car that he won the 1979 Daytona 500 in.
In 1979 and 1980, Yarborough drove the No. 11 Busch Beer car. In 62 races, he was able earn 10 wins, 38 top-fives, and 44 top-ten finishes. He also led 4,130 laps and earned 15 poles
Busch Bavarian Beer, was the first beer introduced by Anheuser-Busch in 1955 after prohibition and Busch Light was introduced in 1989. This is the first year for Busch beer is a sponsor with Stewart Haas Racing; before this year Budweiser, another Anheuser-Busch beer, was Harvick sponsor.
The Bakersfield, California native has already proven he can tame Darlington, the track referred to as too tough to tame, as in 19 starts at the South Carolina track he has eight top-10’s, five top-five’s and a win. Now can he tame it again?
