For the second time in as many weeks, Carl Edwards will lead the field to green in a Sprint Cup Series race.
Edwards, who won the pole last weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, repeated the feat with a quick lap of (14.991 Seconds, 127.997 MPH) to win the pole for Sunday’s Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Edwards and Joe Gibbs Racing would dominate qualifying on Friday afternoon by placing all four of its team cars in the top-five of the starting grid for Sunday’s race. Matt Kenseth will roll off second, with Denny Hamlin forth, and Kyle Busch fifth. Penske Racing’s Joey Logano will start third.
Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Martin Truex Jr., AJ Allmendinger, and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top ten.
Other notables include: Kasey Kahne 11th, Brad Keselowski 12th, Austin Dillon 15th, Ryan Blaney 18th, Chase Elliott 19th, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 20th, Kyle Larson 25th, and Kurt Busch 26th.
