For the fourth straight year in a row, the Stadium Super Trucks will take on the streets of Long Beach, California alongside the Verizon IndyCar Series.
Each of the three previous trips have seen three different victors – Justin Lofton, Robby Gordon and EJ Viso. Only one of those three will be in the field this weekend, and that the series creator Gordon. Gordon currently sits third in points standings, 48 points behind Sheldon Creed. Gordon is hoping to return to the podium this weekend after placing fifth and ninth in the last two events on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
There’s a good possibility there could be a fourth straight different winner, as well as a fifth straight as the series will run two races on the streets of Long Beach for the first time.
Current points leader Sheldon Creed hopes to score the victory and pad the gap that he currently has, sitting 47 points ahead of Keegan Kincaid. Creed has been fast so far this year, winning three of the five events so far. He’s also proven that he can get around the streets of Long Beach, finishing on the podium in both of his previous visits.
Keegan Kincaid enters this weekend with momentum as he won the second event on the streets of St. Petersburg, with his worst finish so far this year being sixth. Kincaid made his first trip to Long Beach last season, finishing fifth.
Tyler McQuarrie will make his second appearance with the series this weekend after impressing in his debut at St. Petersburg with a podium finish in his first weekend out. Pat O’Keefe and Dustin Scott are also making their second appearances with the series, both looking for their first top-five finish.
Veteran tour support Bill Hynes will be hoping to fetch his first top-five of the season after finishing seventh at St. Petersburg. He made his first trip to Long Beach last season, finishing ninth.
Matt Brabham hopes to break through for his first victory of the year after posting a runner-up finish to Sheldon Creed in the first of two races this year on the streets of St. Petersburg.
After an 11th place finish last year on the streets of Long Beach, Erik Davis will return to the series with his first appearance of the season.
Davey Hamilton will make his first appearance of the season, but has ran with the series previously.
There will also be a new face joining the series this weekend as Khaled Al Mudaf will make his series debut. Mudaf has a background in endurance racing, most recently running the 24 hours of Dubai.
The series will be live streaming all of their events, with the link to the stream available on their facebook – https://www.facebook.com/StadiumSuperTrucks/?fref=ts. They will first hit the track for practice and qualifying on Friday at 12:20 pm PST, followed by race one on Saturday at 1pm PST and race two on Sunday at 4pm PST.
