There are certain tracks that drivers seem to have more fun on than others. For Carl Edwards, one of those tracks is Bristol Motor Speedway.
“It’s just so fast,” he commented. “There’s nothing like it on the schedule. It’s fun and I think by the time we get through today and tomorrow, I’ll have caught up with the race car and the race track. This place is just a lot of fun.”
So far, things are going his way as he will lead the field to the green flag for the Food City 500 on Sunday afternoon.
“We’ve got a really good car, it seems fast and our teammates are fast,” he said. “This season has been going well, we’ve had a lot of fun and we’ve had some good runs. We just want to get that first win.”
Edwards has been fast each week so far this year, posting six top-10 finishes, but has yet to find victory lane behind the wheel of his No. 19 Comcast Business Toyota Camry.
“We’ve had fast cars and we haven’t been able to capitalize, but it’s so early in the season and so many guys are competitive,” he said. “You can’t really count on anything. Last week I felt like it could come down to our team and the 78 (Martin Truex Jr.) and neither one of us could get it done, who knows. This place has been really good to me and I feel like our advantage on pit road will pay off here.”
Bristol Motor Speedway has treated the Missouri native well in the past, as he has visited victory lane on three different occasions through the years.
