After finishing third in the standings last year, Andrew Ranger is hoping to return to the top step of the podium this season, where he has sat twice in the past.
“It’s fun to be in the series,” he said at the Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Show. “I’ve driven other series in the past few years, and just to be in the NASCAR Pinty’s Series – it’s so competitive. To see guys like Kevin Lacroix and Alex Labbe, it’s a lot of pleasure to me as a driver. To see a guy like Mark Dilley or Kerry Micks, it’s fun. They’re a really good driver, too. It’s weird to say that I am a veteran, but I’m still young, I think.”
Ranger will be back once again with DJK Racing, though will not be working with the same crew as he worked with last year, scoring a victory and six top-fives in the 11 races.
“I changed crew chief, I changed crew and everything is brand new for me,” he said. “Oh, new car for me as it’s black and yellow. It’s going to be a bit cool as it’s all black. Last year we did the blue, but now it’s all black so it’s going to be fun.”
His new crew chief has experience, though, as he will be working with Dave White. White spent many years working with D.J. Kennington prior to this season.
“Now it’s a new challenge for him, and for me,” Ranger commented. “It’s something new and different, but we want to show what we can do so I can win some races, and take the championship at the end.
