Marco Andretti, driver of the No. 27 HHGregg/Snapple Honda, is looking forward to turning his season around at Barber Motorsports Park.
Andretti hasn’t started the season off to well as he finished 15th at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, because of an aggressive move he made trying to pass another car which caused him to spin. He also suffered some damage to the nose of his car and to which they had to replace during a green flag pit stop.
Then at the Diamond Desert West Valley Grand Prix of Phoenix, he finished 13th which was a well fought for finish for him. He had a stuck throttle which caused him to lose a lap early on, but he was able to get that lap back. He wasn’t able to advance much afterwards, though, as but the issue held him back.
At the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, another stuck throttle issue plagued Andretti as he lost valuable ground to the leaders early and he ended up finishing 19th.
Barber is a track that Andretti has always done well at, which could make it the land of opportunity for him. Since the IndyCar Series started racing there in 2010, he has had five top-10 finishes, three top-five finishes. In 2015, Andretti finished second there his best career finish there at the track; his lowest career finish was 11th in 2012.
“Barber would be a good place to get my season going,” he said. “It’s been a rough start and we need to turn things around this weekend. The cars felt good at the Barber test, so hoping to build on that. As a permanent road course, I love Barber – it’s fast, flowing and fun to drive.”
