Heading into the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, Scott Dixon, driver of the No. 9 Target Chevrolet, has had a pretty decent season thus far.
He finished seventh at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, followed by a victory in the Diamond Desert West Valley Grand Prix of Phoenix. He then finished second at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach last week. As a result, he currently sits second in the championship standings, 14 points behind Pagenaud.
Dixon has been racing at Barber Motosports Park since 2010 when IndyCar started racing there. Dixie has finished on the podium every year, but never has won. He finished second in 2010-2013 and finished third in 2014 and 2015.
Dixon is hoping he can carry his momentum into the weekend and finally get the win at Barber.
“Barber is demanding,” Dixon said. ” It’s like a little bullring almost. It’s very fast and very high grip. There are both fast and blind corners and it can get narrow in some places as well. The facility itself is one to see. The track has done a great job with the park over the years and it attracts a lot of people, which is great for our sport. We also run well here and I’m looking forward to doing that again this weekend.”
