After success in both the Mini Stock and Thunder Car divisions, Kevin Bridge is set for the next step of his racing career as he will move up to the Late Model division, running the full Sauble Speedway schedule this season.
“We should be competitive right off the bat,” he said. “We are in championship caliber equipment and are planing on putting in a bunch of practice sessions. With the shortened season, it’s going to be paramount to be in the mix right from the drop of the green flag.”
He adds going into the season, he is hoping to bring the car home in one piece each night, while learning something new each time he is out on the track. If he can come away with the Best Appearing Award and Rookie of the Year, he’d says he’d call it a good year.
Bridge is making the move up to Late Model after finishing in the top-five in the Thunder Car Standings after improving on his program throughout the season.
“Last season was very trying,” he admitted. “It seamed no matter what we did something went wrong. We are more prepared and in better equipment this year and are hoping that the bad luck of last season is behind us.”
The driver of the No. 17 Late Model admits that it’s a huge change going from one division to the other, as his whole driving style is going to have to change, and he knows with the level of competition, racing the like of Marvin Freiburger, Josh Stade and Scott McTeer, he’s “going to have to bring my a game every lap of every race”.
While running the late model at Sauble, he adds that he will be running for points with Mini Stock and will be going to other speedways with the Mini towards the end of the season.
Of course, any driver wouldn’t be able to do it with the support of their sponsors, and Kevin Bridge will have support from Liuna Local 1059, Castrol Canada, Huron View Insurance, Lakeside Chevrolet Buick GMC Ltd, Daniel Kelly Custom Cabinets, Saugeen Shores Transmission, Spira, Beefway, UPI Energy, Epic Racewear, Spencer Lewis Promotions, Imagewraps, Coldwell Banker Kincardine, 4 Wheel Performance, Bridge Haven Angus, Gilcrest Speed and Custom, DJD Graphics and Permatex this season.
