SESS: Leatherwood Snags Another Win in the Southeast Super Stocks at Anderson

Jason Leatherwood seems to be hard to catch this year in the Southeast Super Stocks as he picked up another win.

As the Southeast Super Truck Series rolled into Anderson Motor Speedway in Williamston, SC Saturday, the SESS took to the track for practice and it seemed Tyler Worley might have been the only one that could come close to Leatherwood. Worley paced the field during the first practice session but started having mechanical problems during the second session. Leatherwood found his way back to the top of the speed charts during the second session, but not by much, as Sawyer Frady was only .001 of a second slower.

Everything was shaping up to be a exciting night, the competition was so close the whole day. Leatherwood set fast time in qualifying but however rolled a five on the invert dice. This now set up for John Gallman to lead the field to the drop of the green flag. Leatherwood didn’t waste no time getting back up to the front during the race, but he didn’t do it easy as he caught fierce competition from Frady.

The first caution came out on Lap 24 when Troy Burgess had an issue. This set up for a wild restart as Leatherwood now had Frady on his outside. Leatherwood managed to get back out in front of Frady and pull away until lap 34 when Worley came to a stop on the track. Leatherwood once again got off to a good restart, but not for long. The caution came back out two laps later, when Clint Watkins and John Gallman made contact on the front stretch leaving Watkins slamming the inside pit wall.

On the final restart of the night Leatherwood managed to pull away again but just for a few laps. Frady pulled right in his tire tracks and applying heavy pressure on the leader. The two took the white flag and went down the back stretch neck and neck, as they came out of turn four heading to the finish line, Frady pulled up right beside of Leatherwood but came up just a few inches short of the victory.
