The Southeast Super Trucks invaded Anderson Motor Speedway for round two in the points battle of the season. 21 trucks took to the track in Williamston, South Carolina.
Series veteran Kevin Leicht rounded out the first practice session on top of the charts, while 2014 NASCAR Whelen ALL American Regional State Champion and Tri County Motor Speedway’s winner Anthony Anders topped the second round of practice. Mart Nesbitt, who had been quick in both the first couple practice sessions, topped off the final session on top.
Anders set sail and qualified on the pole for the race with a blistering lap time of 15.589 almost two tenths quicker than second place. He rolled a four on the invert dice. This now set up for a all “Leicht” brothers front row for the start of the race, as younger brother Matt Leicht showed his older brother Kevin the way around. Matt was able to hold off Kevin for a few laps as they battled side by side. The first caution came out on lap six when Ahnna Parkhurst and Jason Cochran made contact in turn four.
On the restart, Matt and Kevin were able to battle side by side for a few laps again until Kevin took off and snagged the lead. Matt seemed to be having trouble and began to fall back. The second caution came out on lap 14 when Lee Tissot and Matt made contact and Matt went spinning.
Meanwhile, Anders had been sneaking up to the front and applying pressure on Kevin for the lead but wasn’t able to gain anything yet. Kevin led over half the laps in the race, but Anders finally took over the lead on lap 48 and never looked back. Mart Nesbitt moved into second and was beginning to real down Anders. Nesbitt tried to look under him several times until the third caution came out with just four laps to go after Jamie Tate and Brad Campbell got together on the track. This set up for a wild finish for the exciting race.
Anders jumped the restart and the caution came back out again. He went on to take home the second victory in a row driving for former NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief Lee McCall. Nesbitt followed closely in second, with Jamie Altop in third.
