After a solid campaign last year, Coltin Everignham is hoping to continue improving this year in Sunset Speedway’s St. Onge Recreational Super Stock division.
“It’s going to be definitely a tough competition,” he told OnPitRoad.com on opening night. “Lots of very good cars that can win on any given night. It’s just matters on who can stay the cleanest and be the fastest.”
With the improvement he’s made each season, he hopes to find himself inside of the top-five in points at the end of the season.
“I know it’s going to be a lot of work, but we’re up for it,” he said. “I want to defiantly get a feature win, a couple top-fives and keep being consistent.”
Looking to improve on last year, he says the biggest thing he worked on during the off-season is improving communication throughout the team.
“We’ve done a lot of work with Scott Wylie and Shaun McWhirter of Streamline Race Products – definitely helped us a lot set-up wise,” he added. “We’ve changed a bunch of stuff and it’s helped out a lot.”
Last year, the driver of the No. 48 Castrol Canada, HWY 400 Transmission, Castrol Premium Lube Express, Perly Fullerton, ARA Alcona Rental, Ernie’s Performance, Ryan’s Landscape, Graham and Kyle Connor, Permatex, Eagle Eye Contracting, Cabral Racing Promotions, Dwayne Clugston of Century 21 Realty LTD. & The Smokin Piggy Louisiana BBQ Smokehouse Super Stock finished 10th in points with a b-main victory under his belt.
“It wasn’t too bad, but it could’ve been better,” he admitted. “There’s some things that I should’ve maintained more that would’ve helped us out better, but it happens.”
Opening night didn’t go as strong as hoped as Everingham would post a 14th place finish. Certainly going into the second night he will be looking for a stronger performance.
