Unfortunately, Sebastian Bourdais wouldn’t have the race he wanted after issues took him out of the running.
The driver of the No. 11 Europa Chevrolet started the Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the eighth position. During the first lap, there was an incident as both Bourdais and Tony Kanaan got into the wall. Kanaan was done for the day but Bourdias’ crew was able to repair his car and get him back out on the track.
Later on during the race, Bourdais brought out the second caution when he stalled on track. He retiredafter the incident.
“Obviously it was a disappointing end to the weekend for the Europa – KVSH Racing team especially since we damaged the car,” Bourdias said. “I got a run on the outside of Scott (Dixon) and was up against the wall. There was still a reasonable amount of room and I was on my line. From what I saw, (Tony Kanaan) just got pushed a bit to the left and that was it. Tough luck.”
