On Friday, it was announced on the famous yard of bricks at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that Napa Auto Parts as well as their major supplier Napa Balkamp along with their supporting vendors would be teaming up with Andretti Autosports, a three-time Indy 500 champion team, to sponsor the No. 98 driven by Alexander Rossi for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“Andretti Autosport symbolizes the excellence NAPA AUTO PARTS has maintained for nearly 100 years,” Tip Tollison, President of NAPA Balkamp in Indianapolis, stated. With this being the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, I cannot think of anything that makes the historic event more complete than the joining of a premier racing family and a premier auto parts company.”
It was also announced that after the Indy 500 Napa Auto Parts will remain an associate sponsor on all of the Andretti Autosport cars for the rest of the 2016 IndyCar season.
“We’re excited to begin a relationship with another storied American brand for this landmark event,” Michael Andretti, Andretti Autosport CEO said. “This will be NAPA’s first time serving as a full primary sponsor in the Verizon IndyCar Series, and I’m honored to have Andretti Autosport chosen to represent their brand.”
The new logo will be making its first appearance on all the cars starting on Saturday May 21 for qualifications for the Indy 500 when the cars take to the track at the famed IMS. Rossi as well as Napa will make their first ever qualification lap for the Indy 500. Watch this magical event happen on ABC at 11am ET.
