Martin Truex Jr. was the fastest man in Charlotte on LiftMaster pole night at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Thursday Evening.
Truex claimed the pole for Sunday’s Coca Cola 600 with a time of 28.077 seconds (192.328 MPH). This marks Truex’s second pole of the 2016 season. Truex’s other pole came at Kansas Speedway in May, a race where he a led a race high 172 laps and finished 14th after a loose wheel on a late pit stop.
Joey Logano will start second followed by Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski.
Greg Biffle, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick, Carl Edwards, and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top ten after the final round of qualifications.
Other notable starting positions include: Chase Elliott 12th, Kurt Busch 13th, Ryan Blaney 18th, Danica Patrick 19th, Tony Stewart 21st, Dale Earnhardt Jr. 25th, Matt Kenseth 27th, Austin Dillon 28th, and Kasey Kahne 29th.
There will be no track activity tomorrow at Charlotte. However, the Cup Series cars return to the track Saturday for two practice sessions in preparation for Sunday Evening’s 600 miler.
