On May 26 it was announced that Indy Car Driver, Pippa Mann would be teaming up with the online based ride sharing Lyft, a network that matches you up with local drivers within minutes for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
The company will have over 200 drivers or more working in Indianapolis over the Memorial Day weekend, so party goes or race fans can sign up for Lyft and chose to ride instead of drink and drive. If they use the code PIPPA they will receive a $50 credit.
“With all of the amazing celebrations going on in Indianapolis for the 100th Running of the race this year, we wanted everyone to have a solution to help them get home safely at the end of the night,” Mann quoted. “We wanted to take this opportunity to help Lyft activate their “Lyft for Good” program in our community, to help ensure no one feels the need to drive home impaired.”
The company will also be working with the Speedway Police Department to help fans with transportation to and from IMS on race day. With the sold out race, which is 400,000 people to be in attendance in the Speedway area, fans should seek alternative methods of transportation to keep the delays at minimal level. Rides of Lyft will be able to bypass all the traffic and will be picked up and dropped off at a set location on Main Street in Speedway as part of the protocol Speedway police depart put into place.
The PIPPA code isn’t just for race fans anyone can use the code to get their $50 credit even people who aren’t in the state of Indiana. Mann will carry the Lyft logo on her No. 63 Dale Coyne Racing Honda. The race will air on Sunday May 29 on ABC at 12:00 pm ET.
This partnership between Lyft and Mann was arranged by Berle Smith and G-Speed Race Management. They are proud that Mann and Lyft are joining together to make every race fans experience of the 100th Running of the Greatest Spectacle in Racing safer and more easy.
