The OSCAAR Pro Midgets are officially off and running as they held their inaugural event at Peterborough Speedway this past weekend.
After winning the first heat, Ted Greenwood became the man to beat and held it all together during the feature, scoring the victory.The victory is something Greenwood says he’ll cherish for a long time.
“I have won as an owner and engine builder many Canadian karting championships, American karting championships, OKRA Canadian championships, Superkart USA championships. Also, as a Driver owner, I have won Canadian Snowmobile Races and Championships in grass drags and in oval racing, as well as set 1/4 mile ice and asphalt land speed records with my wife and many customers. I have race drag cars, hydroplane race boats and drag boats.
“Last night though it was low on driver count, it meant something. It was neat winning the FIRST inaugural HEAT WIN and First Feature WIN of something born from a need.”
Wally Wilson battled mechanical issues, but overcame them en route to finishing second. Second heat winner Willy Northcott finished third, followed by Richard Woodland.
While car count was low, series officials remain optimistic for the future as drivers have confirmed to the series they will have more than a handful ready for Grand Bend Speedway this week, with even more ready for the following event at Flamboro Speedway.
The Pro Midgets will run their second event of this year at Grand Bend Speedway, joining the OSCAAR Midgets on the card.
