After an action packed weekend at Peterborough Speedway and a solid debut for the Pro Midgets, both OSCAAR Midget divisions – OSCAAR Midgets and OSCAAR Pro Midgets – will be in action on Saturday at Grand Bend Speedway.
OSCAAR Midgets
Brian Woodland is hoping to keep the early season momentum rolling after winning the season opener at Flamboro Speedway, followed by a third place finish at Peterborough Speedway. He knows what it takes to win at Grand Bend Speedway, as he scored the victory last season.
James Stanley hopes to score his sixth straight top-six finish dating back to last year following a second and fourth to start off the 2016 season. He has been strong at Grand Bend in the past, posting a third place finish last August.
Richard Woodland hopes to repeat last year’s Grand Bend Speedway success, just one spot better, as he was the runner-up last year. He has started off his season with a pair of podium finishes.
Wayne McKibbon has started off this year real well, with a fifth and seventh. He’ll look to carry the success forward at Grand Bend, where he posted an eighth place finish.
Brian MacDoanld has been strong at Grand Bend, posting a fourth place finish last year. He hopes to return to the top-five this weekend after finishing eighth at Peterborough.
Adam Cuzilla could use a good run as he ran into issues at Peterborough Speedway, finishing 15th.
Wally Wilson has started off the year with a pair of solid finishes – sixth and ninth. He hopes to score his third straight top-10 finish after just missing the top-10 with an 11th last year at Grand Bend.
Larry Lawson broke into the top-five last week with a fifth place finish at Peterborough Speedway. He hopes to have better luck this year at Grand Bend as he didn’t fare that well last August, finishing 19th.
Russ Couture may have started off a little rough with a quick roll-over in his debut at Flamboro, but he has posted a pair of top-10 finishes despite that. He’ll look to continue improving with another strong run this weekend.
Ryan Brown hopes the issues that plagued him last week at Peterborough last week are behind him so he can be a top-five contender this week.
Zack Milman hasn’t started off his rookie campaign as he hoped, facing issues in the first two races this year. the rookie is no doubt looking to have a smooth day come Saturday at the bend.
Shawn Stanley made his first start of the season at Peterborough Speedway, having a solid run with a sixth place finish. He hopes to break into the top-five this weekend after finishing fifth last year at Grand Bend.
Bill Heatherton didn’t have the 2016 debut he had hoped with a 11th place finish. While he hasn’t attended Grand Bend with OSCAAR to date, he knows how to run in the top-10 with the midgets as he finished eighth last year at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Darryl Anthony made his first start of the year at Peterborough, running into issues. With those issues sorted out, he’ll be hoping to get some solid track time under his belt this weekend.
OSCAAR Pro Midgets
The Pro Midgets will look to continue establishing themselves as a division this weekend at Grand Bend Speedway, as the car count should continue to climb. Charles Priestley, who put the series together, has stated that the car count will grow with each event as more cars become ready.
Ted Greenwod will be the man to watch as he kicked off his midget racing career on a high, scoring the inaugural Pro Midget feature victory at Peterborough Speedway.
Wally Wilson showed speed, but hopes everything stays together this weekend in hopes of turning his second place finish in the inaugural race into a win at Grand Bend.
Richard Woodland has proven he knows his way around Grand Bend, but can he get it done with a Pro Midget? That’s the question on everyone’s mind.
Willy Northcott won a heat at Peterborough, but a mechanical issue took him out of the running in the feature. He hopes to call himself the second feature winner in series history.
Pit and Spectator gates at Grand Bend Speedway will open at 4:30pm, with racing beginning at 7pm. Details can be found on the track website at http://www.jcarracing.ca/.
