Following an action packed season opener at Flamboro Speedway, the OSCAAR Modifieds are set for their second race of the season as they head to Delaware Speedway on Friday night. It’s a night that is certain to thrill fans as they will join the ISMA Super Modifieds on track for the evening.
Gary Elliott looked to be headed to his first career modified victory – till he ran into a mechanical issue. With that worked out, perhaps this weekend will be the sight of Ironman’s first victory triumph. Elliott has done well at Delaware Speedway in the past, finishing ninth in 2014 to go with a fifth place finish last fall.
The other Gary hopes to have things turned around as well – yes, meaning four-time champion Gary McLean. He found himself caught up in a couple incidents at Flamboro resulting in a frustrating eighth place finish. Like most tracks on the tour, he has done well at Delaware in the past, posting a top-five finish in each of his six previous starts, including a pair of victories.
John Harper is hoping for a solid run this weekend after having a rough outing at Flamboro Speedway that resulted in an 11th place finish. He has also performed well at Delaware, scoring an eighth in 2013 to go with a fourth place finish last year.
Dan Price hopes to continue getting stronger at Delaware Speedway. Last spring, he got taken out in a Lap 1 crash, but came back to finish 10th in the fall. A top-five would work well for his program following a sixth place finish in the season opener at Flamboro.
Cory Horner enters this weekend with momentum after starting off the year with a fourth place finish at Flamboro. He has been solid at Delaware in the past, posting finishes of 12th and seventh last year.
A.J. Emms has always been quick as Delaware. Running in the top-five in July of last year, he got spun while running third. He then came back in September to post a third place finish. He enters this weekend with a ton of momentum following a pair of heat wins and a second at Flamboro.
David Balych also enters this weekend with momentum as he finished third at Flamboro. He only has one previous Delaware start under his belt, finishing ninth.
Luke Gignac hopes to keep his early season momentum going after posting a fourth place finish in his first career OSCAAR start. He has never seen Delaware before, but his ADAMS Motorsports team has as they posted a third place finish last fall.
Rob Divenanzo hopes to have a strong run in his first Delaware Speedway start after finishing ninth at Flamboro.
Rick Schurr entered the year looking to have some fun and unfortunately, he didn’t get a chance to start the year off strongly as he hopped at Flamboro. Look for the veteran to try and turn things around this weekend.
Dean Scott unfortunately ran into issues at Flamboro that resulted in a last-place finish. He knows how to get around Delaware, though, as noted by a sixth place finish last spring.
After missing the season opener, Brian McLean will certainly be looking to do well this weekend. He hasn’t had best of luck previously at Delaware Speedway, though, as noted with only one top-five in six starts.
Ryan Dick also hopes to be in attendance as well, hoping to snatch his first Delaware Speedway top-10 finish.
The pits will open at 4:30pm, with the front gates opening at 5pm and racing starting at 7:30pm. The full itinerary and prices can be found on the Delaware Speedway website at http://www.delawarespeedway.com/.
