At the end of the first practice for the Stadium Super Trucks in Detroit, it’d be a familiar face at the top of the charts.
Current points leader Sheldon Creed topped the charts, posting the quickest lap earlier this morning. He enters this weekend leading the standings by 75 points ahead of Matt Brabham. Creed has been fast so far this year, winning five of the seven events so far this year including a sweep of Long Beach. Notably, though, this year’s event will mark his first race on the streets of Detroit.
Speaking of Brabham, he was second quickest on the charts this morning. While this marks Brabham’s first trip to Detroit, he is becoming an experienced regular as he continues to search for his first victory of the season. In his last four starts, he has posted three podium finishes, including a pair of runner-ups to currently sit third in points.
Four-time Detroit winner EJ Viso was third quickest as he makes his first start of the season, followed by Keegan Kincaid and Burt Jenner. Jenner started out the year real well in Australia, scoring a win, a fifth and an eighth. Notably in six Detroit races, Jenner has posted only one finish outside of the top-five to go along with three podiums.
Matt Mingay was sixth, followed by Paul Morris, Scott Steele, Dustin Scott, Aaron Bambach, Bill Hynes and Arie Luyendyk, Jr.
As with Stadium Super Trucks, the first race will feature a reverse starting order of the practice speeds, putting Luyendyk Jr. and Hynes on the front row.
The trucks will take to the track for Race #1 of the weekend later on Friday at 12:15pm EST, with the live stream available to be watched at http://livestream.com/SST/events/5524897.
