TOYOTA QUOTES
MATT KENSETH, No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 3rd
How was your qualifying effort?
“Good. It was good for us. It was an interesting qualifying session because a lot of people didn’t get any practice, including us, so it’s kind of a little bit of a tricky place to get up to speed and get your momentum and get it to feel good. With all that being said, it went really well for us. We were able to have some pretty good speed the first round and adjust on it every time. Just got off a little bit the last run, but it was still obviously a good time. Think it was the best I’ve ever done here.”
How will your approach the Saturday practice?
“Obviously, today is about qualifying and tomorrow is about getting ready for Sunday, so just try to find a nice balance in race trim. I’ve got a few different things we want to work through. Just try to find a good balance and hopefully find some speed at the same time.”
CARL EDWARDS, No. 19 ARRIS Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 5th
How was your qualifying effort?
“I thought not shaving was going to do the trick, but it didn’t – wasn’t that good of luck, so I’m going to shave. Our Toyota was fast. We’ve got ARRIS SURFboard modems on there – they’ve got the fastest modems and I thought we were going to have the fastest car, but I think I gave up a little bit in the tunnel. It’s so easy to do that here, but I had fun though. Pretty fast – I didn’t know that we’d all be that fast.”
What are your plans for tomorrow’s practice?
“So now with the final practice being the only time we get to run in race trim, we’ve really got to focus on the race and with all the weather and everything going on, we don’t really know what kind of conditions we’ll race in, so we’ll just work on it tomorrow, try to be smart about our changes and hopefully we can get another victory here. I love this place.”
DENNY HAMLIN, No. 11 FedEx Ground Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 10th
KYLE BUSCH, No. 18 M&M’s 75th Anniversary Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing
Starting Position: 12th
How was your qualifying effort?
“It wasn’t the spot we were hoping for, but we’ll take it and hopefully learn more about our M&M’s Camry during practice tomorrow. I had a good run in the first two rounds, but messed up my lap there in the final round.”
MARTIN TRUEX, JR., No. 78 Furniture Row Toyota Camry, Furniture Row Racing
Starting Position: 17th
How was your qualifying effort?
“Just having to run an extra run on that first round kills you and hurts you tires, so we – only one lap in practice. It’s pretty tough to come out here and qualify. We were way off on our practice run this morning and then made a lot of changes and got most of the way there for the qualifying session and just needed a few more adjustments that we couldn’t do out here, so just missed it today and lack of practice really hurt.”
What do you need to accomplish in tomorrow’s practice?
“Hopefully, we’ll get a full hour in of race trim so we can get ready for Sunday. We’ll be fine. Just you always like to start up front at tracks like this, but we’ll be fine. We’ll get to work tomorrow. I know our car will be fast. We tire tested here really well – just it didn’t relate to the qualifying setup for today.”
MATT DiBENEDETTO, No. 83 E.J. Wade Construction Toyota Camry, BK Racing
Starting Position: 27th
DAVID RAGAN, No. 23 Dr. Pepper Toyota Camry, BK Racing
Starting Position: 34th
