It seems all the bugs are worked out for Eric Yorke as he’d cruise to feature victory lane at Sunset Speedway on Saturday night.
Andy Kamrath started off the night in victory lane, winning the first heat ahead of Yorke, Gerritt Tiemersma, Warren Paxton, Chris Allard, Cameron McGlashan, Dave Crumbie, Stefan Woyslaw, Steeve Melson and Brendan Adams.
The second heat was a little messy as Nic Montanari got loose in turn one on Lap 4, slowing up with Charlie Smith getting into the back of him, sending him through the turn two inside grass. Cory Young picked up the win ahead of Brandon Crumbie, Terry Woodley, Smith, Jake Watson, Steve Belanger and Bob Phinnemore.
Andy Kamrath went for the daily double, winning the Fast Qualifer’s Dash ahead of Brandon Crumbie, Eric Yorke, Warren Paxton, Cory Young, Gerritt Tiemersma, Jake Watson, Charlie Smith, Terry Woodley, Steve Belanger, Chris Allard and Cameron McGlashan.
Come feature time, it’d be Eric Yorke starting pole ahead of Nic Montanari, Chris Allard, Brandon Crumbie, Stefan Woyslaw, Dave Crumbie, Cory Young, Warren Paxton, Terry Woodley, Steve Belanger, Gerritt Tiemersma, Charlie Smith, Cameron McGlashan, Andy Kamrath, Jake Watson, Steeve Melson, Brendan Adams, Mike Robinson Jr. and Bob Phinnemore.
Brandon Crumbie wouldn’t take his starting position, electing to start at the rear of the field for the start of the race.
Unfortunately, it was a messy start that resulted in heavy damage for some. Tiemersma got sideways on the frontstretch after contact, getting into Paxton. The result was Paxton sent across the track up into the wall, collecting McGlashan. Adams then made heavy contact with the rear of McGlashan’s car afterwards. The result was McGlashan being done for the evening, while Paxton and Tiemersma both continued without damage and Adams continued after getting the front bumper removed.
The second attempt to start the race went cleaner as Eric Yorke put the No. 51 Can-Alignment Motorsports, Milton Napa Auto Parts, J&D Tire, Solex Steel, McKeown Collision, Partimer Signs, Ancaster Embroidery, Country Girl Designs and Skytec Rentals Nissan out front ahead of Montanari and Allard. The caution then flew on Lap 2, though, as Dave Crumbie spun in turn two virtue of contact form Smith.
Yorke got a good restart to keep the lead ahead of Montanari as Young passed Allard to move up into third. Brandon Crumbie had worked his way up to fifth by Lap 3 ahead of Kamrath, Woodley, Belanger, Tiemersma and Watson. Crumbie continued his climb to the front, passing Allard for fourth at Lap 5, bringing Kamrath through with him. Kamrath then got alongside Crumbie for fourth, completing the pass at Lap 9.
Brandon Crumbie now ran fifth as Woodley worked his way up to sixth ahead of Belanger as Allard and Tiemerma battled for eighth. Tiemersma got the spot on Lap 11 virtue of Allard getting a little sideways due to being tagged by Watson. The tagging continued as Tiemersma tagged Belanger a lap later.
All of this would allow Smith to work his way up to seventh at Lap 13 while Tiemersma and Belanger battled for eighth. Tiemersma got the spot on Lap 14, bringing Allard through with him. Belanger now ran ninth as Paxton and Watson ran side-by-side for 10th. The pair got to move up a spot each as Belanger pitted on Lap 16 with a problem. Adams would also head down pit road as he had began to overheat.
Further up the field, Crumbie was able to get by Kamrath for fourth on Lap 19 as the pair weaved their way through lap traffic. Woodley continued to run sixth ahead of Smith, Tiemersma and Allard as the battle continued between Paxton and Watson.
Eric Yorke cruised to the victory ahead of Nic Montanari, Brandon Crumbie, Cory Young, Andy Kamrath, Terry Woodley, Charlie Smith, Gerritt Tiemersma, Chris Allard, Warren Paxton, Jake Watson, Bob Phinnemore, Dave Crumbie, Steeve Melson and Stefan Woyslaw.
