Celebrations are in order for Walt Motorsports as the team scored their first feature victory of the 2016 season this past weekend at Peterborough Speedway.
“The win was big for us with the new car,” Rick Spencer-Walt commented. “It was hooked up straight out of the trailer.”
Spencer-Walt showed speed throughout the entire night, scoring a pair of heat victories to be the fast qualifier for the second week in a row.
It wouldn’t be an easy feature victory, though, as he had to work for it battling Tyler Betts for the lead. In the end, though, he was able to come out on top in victory lane.
“The battle with Betts was a lot of fun,” he commented. “We ran the outside for a long time and I had to pull back in line to cool the tires and try again. Finally with two to go, I was able to give him a little bump into (turn) one and get under him. It was one of the most fun races we have ever run.”
