BRIGHTON, Ont. – June 10, 2016 – A cool and windy night didn’t stop the young drivers of the Brighton Speedway Kart Klub presented by Kiwanis of Trenton from tearing up the track on night three of their 2016 season on Thursday night. A busy pit area saw 39 karters sign in for action at the mini infield oval.
Anderson Wins For Second Week In A Row
Kyle Anderson drove his No.17 kart to victory lane for the second time in a row in the Junior Restricted division’s 15-lap main event on Thursday night. Kyle took the lead from AJ Rinaldi off turn two near the midpoint of the race and evaded Nathan Rinaldi over the final five laps to claim the victory. Cole Perry finished third ahead of Anthony, and Jordan Burrows.

Denard Wins First Of Season
Holly Denard drove to her first win of the season in Junior Sportsman 2 competition. Holly outdueled a hard-charging Cole McKeown over the final five laps following a yellow flag at lap 10. Cole repeatedly tried to build his momentum and go to the outside lane, but Holly was too strong on the bottom on her way to the win. Cole was second across the line ahead of Emily Peterson, who completed the podium.

Markland Becomes Third Junior Sportsman 1 Winner
James Markland led every lap of the Junior Sportsman 1 division feature after starting on the pole to earn his first win of the season. It didn’t come easy by any means as James had to hold off Cameron Bristow who made a dash to the front on a lap 12 restart while racing three-wide for second momentarily with Keira Turner and Carson Down. Three different drivers have won the three races so far this year.

LeClair Scores Rookie 2 Win
Ashton LeClair dominated the Rookie 2 feature and defeated a very fast Nathan Shorts for his first win of the season on Thursday night. LeClair has to be perfect on two restarts at lap three and lap six in order to hold off Nathan’s No.20 kart. Carson Lemanis dashed to a third-place finish after starting at the rear of the field.

Rookie 1 Feature Belongs To James
Jace James drove his No.99J kart to victory lane after starting on the pole of the 10-lap feature. Ryan Greig did his best to become the division’s first two-race winner this season, but ran out of laps to get the job done. Jace was strong on a lap three restart and led every lap to claim the checkered flag.

McCrillis Wins Box Stock 2 Feature
Trevyn McCrillis won an action-packed Box Stock 2 feature, becoming the first driver to defeat Jacob Down so far this season. Trevyn was seemingly perfect in his No.71 kart, dodging challenges from all five karts throughout the race on his way to the victory. Tyson followed in second-place ahead of Jacob, Cooper McKeown and Emma Terpstra.

Lockridge Steals Thrilling Box Stock 1 Race
Colton Lockridge stole the checkered flag on the final corner of the last lap for his first win of the season in the Box Stock 1 division. The beginner division of the club features primarily drivers seven years old or younger. Gabe Miller took the lead on lap four and was on cruise control until he reached lapped traffic on the final lap. Colton stole the lead on the final corner to claim the checkered flag ahead of Tyson Cooper, and Gordie Miller.
