After being third in the first NASCAR XFINITY Series practice, Joey Logano’s No. 22 Discount Tire Ford ran the fastest lap in practice at 37.534.
Unlike the early afternoon session, final practice was run in mostly race conditions, which allowed Logano to lead the session.
One of the surprises of the session was Blake Koch. Koch put down the second fastest lap of the session with a 37.595. Koch is having a career year with his new team of Kaulig Racing. He has two top-10s this year with a best finish of eighth at Richmond.
Ryan Reed used the help of the draft to propel him to third on the timing sheets. Reed currently sits 10th in XFINITY Series points, and looks for a strong run in Michigan after a crash in Pocono last week dropped him to a 33rd-place finish.
Erik Jones holds the fastest lap of the day in the first practice at a 37.482, but wasn’t quick enough to back that up and wound up fourth in final practice. Jones hails from Michigan and looks to win his third race of the season at his hometrack.
Former ARCA champion Justin Allgaier was fifth in final practice. Allgaier is still looking for his first win of the year, and hopes Michigan is the track to do it. He has a best finish of fourth at MIS driving for Roger Penske in 2010.
Four Richard Childress Racing drivers placed sixth through tenth. Paul Menard was sixth followed by Ty Dillon, Brandon Jones, Joe Gibbs Racing driver Daniel Suarez and Brendan Gaughan.
Kyle Busch was one of the biggest surprises of the session as he landed just outside of the top-10 in practice in 11th. Busch was fifth in the first practice.
