Joe Gibbs Racing Goes 1-2 as Carl Edwards Leads Morning FireKeepers Casino 400 Practice

Joe Gibbs Racing is fast once again. Are you surprised? It shouldn’t be as the organization has been fast so far this year, winning seven of the 14 races this season.

Carl Edwards topped the speed chart with a lap of 36.406 seconds, 0.006 ahead of teammate Kyle Busch. Edwards enters this weekend sitting fourth in points with two wins, while Busch sits fifth in points with three wins. Both drivers have reached Michigan International Speedway victory lane previously as Edwards has two wins while Busch has one.

Team Penske and their technical associate would sweep the rest of the top-five with pole sitter Joey Logano third, followed by Ryan Blaney and Brad Keselowski. The organization has shown speed all year so far, but only Keselowski has reached victory lane with two wins.

Coca Cola 600 winner Martin Truex Jr. was sixth, followed by Kyle Larson, Jimmie Johnson, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ryan Newman.

The Sprint Cup Series gets one more practice on Saturday at noon EST ahead of Sunday’s race.
