After a short break, the OSCAAR Midget and Pro Midget drivers are more than ready to return to the track for the first round of the season. With their notebooks growing, this weekend’s race at Flamboro Speedway promises to be a thriller with a full field of drivers on track.
OSCAAR Midgets
Alex Cuzzila is looking for another strong finish after starting out the year with three finishes top-11 finishes, highlighted by an eighth at Grand Bend Speedway.
Brian McDonald hopes to run well this weekend as he has yet to post a finish outside of the top-eight in the first three races. He did well in May at the Hamilton, Ontario based track with a fourth place finish.
Wally Wilson looks to run up front on Saturday after posting his best finish of the season to date in May at Flamboro with a sixth.
James Stanley will also be tough to beat after posting two top-fives to start the year, including a runner-up at Flamboro.
Richard Woodland hopes to keep his early season momentum going as he comes off the win at Grand Bend Speedway and has yet to post a finish off of the podium in three races so far.
Wayne McKibbon has started off this year real well with three straight top-seven finishes. He’ll look to carry the success forward to Flamboro where he finished fifth in May.
Larry Lawson is on a roll with two straight top-five finishes. He hopes to a good run at Flamboro after finishing seventh in May.
Russ Couture may have started off a little rough with a quick roll-over in his debut at Flamboro, but he has posted a three top-10 finishes despite that, including a season-best of sixth last week at Grand Bend. He’ll look to continue improving with possibly his first top-five this weekend.
Ryan Brown caught people off-guard at Grand Bend, scoring a heat victory followed by a runner-up finish in the main event. He hopes to carry the early season momentum to Flamboro after finishing 10th in May.
Zack Milman hasn’t started off his rookie campaign as he hoped with only one top-10 in the first three races. The rookie is no doubt looking to have a smooth day come Saturday.
Shawn Stanley enters this weekend with momentum after a pair of top-10 finishes. He was solid last year at Flamboro, finishing seventh .
Bill Heatherton didn’t have the 2016 debut he had hoped for at Peterborough with a 12th place finish. While he hasn’t attended Flamboro with OSCAAR to date, he knows how to run in the top-10 with the midgets as he finished eighth last year at Peterborough’s Autumn Colours Classic.
Darryl Anthony made his first start of the year at Peterborough, running into issues. With those issues sorted out, he’ll be hoping to get some solid track time under his belt this weekend.
Brian Woodland is hoping to keep the early season momentum rolling after winning the season opener at Flamboro Speedway, followed by a third place finish at Peterborough Speedway.
OSCAAR Pro Midgets
The Pro Midgets will look to continue establishing themselves as a division this weekend at Flamboro Speedway, as the car count should continue to climb with this weekend marking the first points event. Charles Priestley, who put the series together, has stated that the car count will grow with each event as more cars become ready.
Ted Greenwod will be the man to watch as he kicked off his midget racing career on a high, scoring the inaugural Pro Midget feature victory at Peterborough Speedway.
Wally Wilson showed speed, but hopes everything stays together this weekend in hopes of turning his second place finish in the inaugural race into a win at Flamboro.
Richard Woodland has proven he knows his way around Flamboro, but can he get it done with a Pro Midget? That’s the question on everyone’s mind.
Willy Northcott won a heat at Peterborough, but a mechanical issue took him out of the running in the feature. He hopes to call himself the second feature winner in series history.
Along with the OSCAAR Midgets at Flamboro Speedway this weekend will be the Outlaw Super Lates, OSCAAR Modifieds and OSCAAR Pro Midgets.
